From 26 to 28 August 2026, Absolute Genetics Technologies (AGT) participated in the National Innovation & Commercialisation Expo (NICE 2026) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Organised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) in partnership with the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI), NICE 2026 is Malaysia’s premier national platform for commercialising homegrown innovation. Guided by the theme “Mission to Market. Malaysia to the World.”, the event brought together researchers, industry leaders, technology entrepreneurs, and government stakeholders. For AGT, the three-day expo offered a vibrant platform to bridge high-level scientific research with practical, consumer-facing applications.
Driving Innovation Together: Partnering with Sunway University
A standout moment of the expo was the formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) exchange between AGT and Sunway University. The partnership centres on an impactful research project titled “Population Ageing Genetics, and Viral Susceptibility: Investigating Host-Diet EBV Interactions in Malaysian Adults.”
We were deeply honoured to have this milestone exchange witnessed by YB Datuk Chang Lih Kang, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation. By bridging academia and industry, this initiative explores how nutrigenomics, lifestyle factors, and viral interactions influence health in an ageing population. The primary objective is translating complex genomic research into actionable, evidence-based health solutions tailored specifically to the Malaysian demographic.
Sharing Insights: Our Pocket Talk
Beyond the booth, AGT took the stage for an engaging pocket talk titled “How DNA Can Personalise Health, Development & Growth.”
The session broke down how genetic data can inform precision wellness and early childhood developmental support. By translating intricate biological mechanisms into clear takeaways, the presentation sparked broader discussions on how personalised genetics can empower families to make informed, proactive lifestyle choices alongside environmental and dietary considerations. Direct Connections: Engaging with Families and the Community
Throughout the three days, our booth welcomed a diverse group of visitors, including industry professionals, researchers, investors, and members of the public eager to learn what AGT has to offer.
Our team engaged in meaningful discussions with attendees interested in how genomic insights translate into practical wellness, preventive health, and developmental applications. These exchanges provided valuable perspectives from across the ecosystem, reinforcing that science creates the greatest impact when it is accessible, practical, and grounded in real-world relevance.
Looking Ahead
From formalising our research collaboration under ministerial witness to having meaningful conversations with the general public, NICE 2026 was a rewarding and memorable milestone for AGT. We extend our gratitude to MOSTI and MRANTI for organising a landmark event, to our research partners at Sunway University, and to every visitor who stopped by our booth.
